Michael James Shannon died Sunday, July 18, 2010, in Durango, Colo. He was 53.
Michael was born April 6, 1957, in Knox, Ind., the son of Michael and Betty Shannon, and grew up in northern Illinois. According to his sister Cynthia, "Michael traveled the highways, followed the sun and made it home in the end."
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Betty and Gene Stamsta. He is survived by sisters Cynthia Cornett of Durango, Colo.; and Ginny Murrey of Fox Lake, Ill.; brothers Robert Boydsten of Centre, Ala.; and Joseph Shannon of Durango, Colo.; uncle James Bowden of Ottawa, Ill.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Cremation will occur at Hood Mortuary Crematory in Durango. No services are planned at this time.
